What is the danger of having water in your ears?

There are many remedies to get rid of it, but I don't see the problem.

If the water that enters your ear has bacteria in it? You are now prone to a ear infection commonly known as 'Swimmers ear'. The remedy for this would normally be Oral antibiotics,And topical ear drops.

Water in your ears could lead to an infection. Causes could be from shampooing, showering, and swimming. Using cotton swabs to dry ears can also remove skin and protective bacteria, try blow- drying your ears instead. You may use ear plugs, a cotton ball with vaseline, and swim with head above water to keep ears fairly dry.

If you don't get the water out of your ear, you can get a case of what they call "swimmer's ear" which is an infection.

Water in the ears has drawbacks other than just discomfort. Swimmers go through great lenghts to keep water out of their ears with good reason. Prolonged water in the ear physically lowers human resistence to colds. Water mixed with earwax may become stagnant and cause infection. Water is easily removed by dipping a Qtip in rubbing alcohol and swabbing lightly
