What is the correct way to hang an American flag on my front door?

If the door is large enough, hang it horizontal, like a flag would be when it is flying on a pole. If the door is too narrow to do that, hang it vertical with the stars on the top, likely by the grommets on the top of the flag, that would usually attach to the pole.

The stars of the flag need to be hung on the left and at the top. Any other way that the flag is hung could be seen as a sign of disrespect to the flag and to the United States of America. Some also see the opposite hanging of the flag as a socialist sign.

Thanks for the onfo about where the stars are to be positioned on a front door . I have a brother serving in Africa and I have had an American flag on my front door the wrong way for five months !
