The best way to treat boils is to apply moist heat. Once the head has softened it can then be drained. Apply antibiotics to avoid infection.

From experience: Use hot cloths on site to help the boil come to a head (like a pimple). Once a head has formed use a sterilized needle to lance the top. Put a gauze bandage on it and change it often while the boil drains. That should do the trick!

Soak with a hot compress of water and Epsom salt two or three times daily. As the pus begins to make a head, gently pull the head open, allowing the pus to drain. Apply an antibacterial ointment and cover lightly with a sterile gauze between treatments. Repeat until boil is healed.

You must first use a warm compress to draw the puss out and make the boil come to a head. Next, go to a pharmacy and buy an over the counter magnesium sulfate paste to help heal the boil without risking infection. If your feeling brave you can also try popping the boil with a sterilized needle.

Keep the skin clean. You can apply rubbing alcohol to disinfect it. If the boil has grown very large, see a doctor to have it drained.

The Mayo Clinic indicates that applying tea tree oil to a boil several times a day may help. Watch for any allergic reactions!
