Anytime you take your baby in a car or airplane, a baby seat is the safest thing to do. Consider this: What if you're going 30MPH and the cabbie hits the brakes? There's no way the baby will stay in your arms. Buckle them up!

Yes you do need to have your car seat with you!!!. It might be a pain to drag around but it is worth it for the safety of your baby. The car seat should be placed in the back seat (rear facing infant seat) in the middle.

No you don't have to drag the car seat with you when using a taxi between locations. Just hold the baby securely on your lap. Ask the driver to driver slower or more cautiously. Make sure the child has a pacifier and toys to stay quiet and entertained.
