The best way I have found to remove contact paper from windows is to use a hair dryer. You turn it on high and slowly move it over any edge in a diagonal motion and peel back slowly so you don't rip it.

One way to remove contact paper from windows is to peel as much off by hand. Then spray throughly with a glass cleaner or vinegar. Allow to soak in. Use a straight razor to get gluey substance off. Repeat with glass cleaner or vinegar. After all residue is gone, throughly clean windows.

Remove what you can with a razor, then soak it with a solvent like mineral spirits. It's tedious, but as long as you don't scratch the glass it should work.

I would use a chisel or similar flat bladed tool to scrape off as much as you can. Then use nail polish remover to remove the left over adhesive.
