What is the best way to kill hornets and get rid of the nest?

It's located in a huge bush. I can't see it, but I know it's in there.

Locating the hornet's nest would best be done very early or late evening. Spraying an insecticide directly in opening will kill them. You can then remove and burn the nest.

If you are allergic to their stings or this is a larger colony, you may want to contact a local exterminator. If it is a smaller nest of just a handful of hornets, we use a wasp & hornet killer from Spectracide around dawn or dusk since that's when most of the hornets will be back at the nest.

Place a pan with a small amount of bacon grease underneath it. At night, raccoons will come, attracted to the grease, and will rip open the nest to eat the grubs. The hornets will not rebuild there! This has been a surefire solution for us for several past seasons.

The best way to kill hornets is to spray them with Raid. Then once dead nests can be destroyed with the water hose.
