The best food for any dog is food that is nutritious and provides all ingredients a dog needs to have a healthy living. The most convenient, and also the cheapest, is to buy dry food. It is highly nutritious and has a low moisture level. As a treat you could give wet canned food once or twice a week.

If you have a husky who is undernourished, I would recommend feeding him the puppy version of either Iams or Eukanuba dog food. These brands are both known higher calorie foods and puppy formulations can help dogs gain rapid weight.

High quality dog foods available from specialty food stores can work well. I like Canidae, Blue Buffalo, and Diamond Naturals but there are other good ones too. Add more new food each meal while decreasing the current diet to limit chances of digestive upset. Overfeeding a dog in poor condition can result in diarrhea. Better to build him back slowly.

Feed him some Eukanuba High Performance dog food and load him up with the treats each day. Make sure you over feed him in a way. Give him more than is recommended on the bag.

The "best food" for dogs varies. Some tolerate certain brands better than others! You're best bet is to consult your vet. They will likely recommend Science Diet, Purina, or Iams. They may also suggest adding small amounts of puppy chow to adult food for a short time to help your new dog put some weight on.
