Dippity is usually not serious and goes away by itself in a day or two, so your main concern should be treating your pig's pain. It is best not to put medicine directly on the sores. Usually, aspirin is just fine at relieving the pain, but if not, your vet can prescribe cortisone or butorphanol.

The cause for dippity hasn't been determined, but seems to occur often with rehomed or "upset" pigs. Most cases last 36-48 hrs, 72 if the welts are very large. Treatment is aimed at alleviation- anti-inflammatories and salves. You should consult a vet,it might'nt be dippity, particularly if no welts present.

Assuming that you've already seen your vet there are a few things that can be done to alleviate this very troubling condition. To control your pig's pain I recommend Aspirin. It's readily available and works in most cases. If that doesn't help the pain your vet can prescribe something more potent. Benadryl can then be given to help with irritation.
