Start with 10 200 meter repeats at a pace that you can sustain for all of them. Another good workout is 4 300 meter repeats at a very hard pace with a large rest period in between. One more good workout is two 400 meter repeats all out with ten minute break in between.

For running you have to practise daily. At first start running with 100 meter and see how you health condition you can practise for one week and following week you can practise for 200 meter and then practise for 400 meter by which you can fit yourself for the race

Congratulations on starting your new hobby! Before you begin to train for speed, you may want to get endurance down. Start out by attempting long distances. You will want to use a system in which you employ sprinting and walking, with the latter taking precedence at first, of course.

Best idea is not to get tensed. Do Yoga and exercise at morning. After running upto as much as you can raise your hands up and down to balance breath.
