The water line kit is inexpensive when not included with the refrigerator and the type of tap is very easy -- a 'vampire' type that many home owners can do themselves saving the cost of labor. You can buy an ice maker supply kit at most hardware stores and home centers for about $15-$25. Most kits come with a piercing valve, 50' of line (plastic or copper), a compression coupling, and a compression fitting to fit onto the refrigerator.

The cheapest line I have found would have to be at a Lowe's store they sell theirs about three bucks I say its pretty cheap compared to other ones. They can also be installed really easy. Just take your time and it should be a twist and a snap to install.

You would have to talk to a repair person to find out. They would be able to tell you the cost of the line, and how much it would cost to put it in.
