They are fairly accurate. It is most accurate in early pregnancy (they may use your ealy ultrasound for for estimating your due date). When you have an ultrasound in the later part of your pregnancy size can be off by plus/minus 2lbs.

It depends on what specifically you are questioning. As far as gender, they are about 85 percent accurate. If you are talking about spinia bifita, down syndrome, and other genetic disorders they are not that accurate at all, maybe 70 percent. That is why they are ususally followed with an amniocentisis.

Fetal ultrasounds that are performed under medical supervision are very accurate. Accuracy does depend on the placement of the baby and the position of the baby. Ultrasounds done at home are most likely not very accurate unless you are a ultrasound technician.

I think it has 99% percent accuracy if the radiologist is good. The ultrasound is nothing if the radiologist does not know how to interpret it. I had two pregnancies and the radiologists were both correct about the sex of my babies.
