Techniques describe alignment and responsbilibies that the defensive lineman have. A number 6 technique describes where the defensive lineman will line up on the inside shoulder of the offensive Tight End or in a formation where there is no Tight End he lines up on the outside shoulder of the Offensive Tackle.
