Some available options include GoToMyPC, PCNow, WinAdmin, or Citrix. There are also several remote meeting packages, such as WebEx and GoToMeeting. You can also use Remote Desktop or Terminal Services, which are included with certain versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Most operating systems come along with some remote access software for controlling or viewing a remote desktop. A more flexible solution is to setup a VNC or X11 server for desktop access. If the command line is enough, SSH is the standard and provides encrypted and secure communication. For file access you should check FTP or the secure SFTP.

If the standard Microsoft Tools are not good enough, I suggest you to use Team Viewer because it is easy to run it over any firewall.

If you have Windows XP or higher best program will be built-in "remote desktop" software. It is easy to use and safe.
