Ragged (unjustified) text is a style of formatting where the right margin is not required to form a straight line down the page. Words in a line of text are separated by single fixed-width spaces and no justification (variable-width spacing) is used to adjust the right margin.

In programs like Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer, you can align the text in different ways. As long as you do not choose a justified layout you will get ragged text. This means that the text in the lines is not streched to always fill the line completely.

Text is "ragged" when its lines are not aligned against one of the margins -- left or right. Traditionally, text in books and newspaper columns are aligned on both the right and left margins, while typewritten letters are aligned on the left and ragged on the right. Sometimes, text is centered, so it is ragged both left and right.

In typography and text processing, ragging simply means that the text is not aligned along the margins of a document or web page. It is basically the opposite of justified, that means that text is aligned along the left and right margins. Ragging can be to the right (not aligned to right margin), or to the left.

Ragged text features lines of different lengths. Left justified means all lines start at the same margin on the left and the right side is ragged--lines different in length.

Ragged text is nothing but a column or lines of text in various texts. Only restriction is aligned to only one side of the paper and central axis.

A ragged text refers to the alignment of the text or paragraphs in a document. Said text maybe aligned to the left or aligned to the center of the document.
