The median of a set of data is the middlemost or 50th percentile value. If the data are ordered from lowest to highest and there is an odd number n of data points, the median observation number(n+1)/2. If n is even then median = average of #n/2 and #n+1)/2

If you have a series of numbers and put them in order, the median is the number in the middle. In 2, 3, 8, 8, 9, the median is 8.
