Potassium chlorate is a cheap source of pure oxygen in laboratories. When heated, it decomposes, forming oxygen as a product. Its use as a source of oxygen is implemented in some airplanes and the space station. Potassium chlorate is also as an explosive in fireworks, but more expensive compared to the traditional gunpowder.
