Typical aspects of Roman Catholicism distinguishing it from other branches of Christianity are the veneration of saints and the recognition of the Pope as the highest (earthly) authority.

I think Catholicism is a too broad term to interpret in a few words. One thing is obvious: it refers to those who are part of the Catholic church in Communion with the Bishop of Rome. I think it is also notable its dependance on sacraments through which Catholics make the unachievible Object of their faith tangible and even visible.

There are many different rituals and teachings involved in traditional Catholicism that vary from other Christian religions. I would start by talking to a Catholic priest or nun to learn more about the faith. It may also be possible to buy a book that will outline some of the traditional practices of Catholicism.
