The Novasure procedure involves the use of radio-frequency energy to burn away the endometrium, or lining of the uterus. A wand is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and cervix; then, a mesh array is inserted through this wand and into the uterus. This mesh carries the radio energy that destroys the uterine lining.

The Novasure procedure or 'uterine ablation' involves cauterizing the lining of the uterus so that the lining does not thicken during your cycle. This is usually an office procedure and is performed with the patient under mild anesthesia.
