Go to your doctor and explain your concerns and situation. Your doctor will do a cervical swab as part of your pelvic exam. She will usually order other STD tests along with Chlamydia. The test results should come back from the lab reasonably quickly, then you would be notified the results.

For women the test is relatively simple having either a urine test or a vaginal swab similar to a yearly visit Pap Smear. For men either a urine test or a swab from inside the urethra is taken. Both are relatively quick and painless procedures.

You will need to see an obstetrician. He or she will perform a pap smear. To do this he or she will swab your vagina to obtain a culture. This culture will then be sent to a lab for analysis.

In order to test for chlamydia, the doctor will need to swab the inside of your vagina and cervix. It feels really similar to getting a pap smear. You should have the results within a few days.

Good news - it doesn't require the drawing of blood. It uses bodily fluids, but it can be done from a urine test. This is very effective in men - not so effective in women, so a woman might also require a swab of the area.

For a woman, this can be detected through a typical routine check up and pap. Be sure to tell them what you're specif concern is. For a male, it's a bit more intimidating, they have to take a swab from the inside of the pee hole of the penis.
