What is included in an engine rebuild kit?

It depends on the type of model car you have, as engine kits may vary in contents, but in general they include a lot of the same things. This is a fairly broad question becomes there are many different models of your type of car. I would either consult a mechanic personally, or refer to your user manual.

Typically an engine rebuild kit will come with the following: Piston Rings, main bearings, cam bearings, timing chain and timing gears, connecting rod bearings, and pushrods. Also, an engine Rebuild kit may come with pistons, rods, crankshaft, full gasket set, camshaft, lifters, head rebuild kit, and maybe new tinware. Source: I am an AutoZone employee

I don't think that every kit will have same same stuff. Every one should lists it's contents on the package so be sure to compare each one to see if it has what you need in it.

Most I've seen contain gaskets for the oil pan, cylinder head(s), head cover(s), water pump, timing cover, thermostat, gasket sealer, maybe a timing belt/chain, thermostat, and so forth.

Well kits from different manufacturer can contain different stuff. Look at the contents before purchasing any other parts. That way you don't buy anything unnecessary or have to stop building to go get a part.

It comes with main bearings, crankshaft, piston rings, gaskets for oil pan, cam bearings, head rebuild kit, connecting rod bearings, pushrods, timing chain/timing gears, camshaft, lifters. Its best to go to a auto part store cause some have different stuff in the kits. Make sure you have everything you need.

Not every rebuild kit will have the same thing as another brand kit. Consult the manufacturer to see what exactly is in a kit before buying it. Usually they will list the contents kit but sometime you may have to ask the manufacture via email or phone.
