What is expected after a torn uterus? Does it repair itself?

I am wondering if I have to have surgery.

You more than likely will need surgery. A visit to the OBGYN would be advisable though. Depending on the size of the tear they might just put you on some medication to insure that it does not become infected and let it self heal.

No, the uterus does not repair itself. A torn uterus usually occurs after a difficult childbirth. To fix it calls for major surgery. The doctor will try to sew the uterus up if the woman wants more children. If she is through with having children he may remove the uterus.
