Fear of imperfection and it can drive other people nuts. Symptoms include being hyper critical of everything and everyone, including yourself, stressing over even the little things having to be just right, and chronic worrying that nothing is good enough to be the best.

Atelophobia is the fear of failing to achieve perfection in all aspects of life. Your boyfriend is trying to tell you that you're a perfectionist and perhaps even a little controlling.

A person with atelophobia in simplest terms is a perfectionist to the extreme. They have an irrational fear of failure or any type of imperfection in their life. They are very critical of themselves.

I think you may be being told that you are a perfectionist as this is a condition in which the sufferer has an extreme fear of failure to achieve perfection in all aspects of their life. This leads to them setting harder and harder goals for themselves, and may become obsessional.More balance and less self criticism needed in your life?
