I believe an example of original jurisdiction would be a peaceful protest. Such an example would be a peaceful protest of civil rights, or student wanting equalization in school, when segration was allowed, or another example would be non violent individuals who protect the amazon rain forest. Another example would be in Miami how the Haitain protest deportation laws here.

The US Supreme Court has original jurisdiction in cases between states. No other court can hear the initial filing. Bankruptcy Courts are another example.

Original jurisdiction is the location where a crime originated. For example if you kidnap someone in New York and take them to Georgia, the original jurisdiction is in New York. However, crossing state lines, the feds get it anyway!

If a crime is commited in place but the suspect get caught for another crime in another jurisdiction. The first (original) jurisdiction will have first dibs at the person.

Original jurisdiction means that a court can hear a case in the first form because of the subject matter. This would be like a criminal court hearing a criminal case with a jury and witnesses are put on the stand.
