Epididymal cysts are also called spermatocele. They are cysts of the tubes in the testicles. Smaller cysts should be left alone, but larger cysts that are asymmetrical or causing pain should be examined by a doctor for removal. Removing the cysts will not improve fertility. They are caused by inflammation or trauma.

There is a long, narrow, coiled tube that sits behind and above each of the testes. The tube collects sperm. This type of cyst develops in this tube and is sperm-filled.
