A pilot's salary can vary widely depending on whether (s)he is working as an airline or commercial pilot. Salaries can start at less than $32,000. However, pilots do get benefits beyond their paychecks. Many are eligible for health and life insurance plans. They also get an expense allowance, and they and their families usually get free or discounted flights.
