It is a piece of metal which is used to prevent leaks in places on a roof where leaks are most likely to happen. It is used around chimneys, vent pipes and in valleys (where 2 slanting sections of the roof come together) to give water a place to run off without getting under the roofing material.

Roof flashing depends on gravity and it works with flashing materials to shed water to roofing material which is directed to the ground. Aluminum roof flashing doesn't rust easily and it can be easily bent into desired shape hence it is the common choice for many people. Aluminum is versatile and is available in every store.
