Formal written notice of remediation is given followed by a conference to discuss specific concerns. The teacher is then given resources (written, verbal, classes, etc. ) to assist them in improving their teaching. Typically 4-6 additional observations and follow-up conferences are scheduled to support improvement.

When a teacher has been evaluated by a principal or other supervisor, and has been found unsatisafctory in one or more performance areas, a remediation plan is developed. The plan is designed to help the teacher overcome problems in instruction, classroom management, etc. Most districts and programs have sample plans.

A remediation plan is used to help the teacher think about, organize and plan remediation actions with his/her students. An individualized mediation plan helps the teacher identify specific problem areas and develop steps that will produce results. The form includes the student's name, course taught, how the remediation was carried out, how the student was identified, and any results.
