Music should be at a moderate to low level. If any controls are not thoroughly familiar and practiced, pull off at a safe place and make the adjustment there.

A safe way to have entertainment in a car without distracting the driver is to have tv sceens behind the driver and passenger headrest, which would make them invisible to the driver.
