A regulation size pool table is a 9 by 4. 5 foot playing surface used for the sport of billiards. This is the type of pool table that is used in all professional billiard sporting events. All pool tables are twice as long as they are wide, this provides a geometrical consistency among all different sized pool tables.

The standard for regulation pool tables is nine feet by four and a half feet. These are what the majority of all billiards and pool tournaments are played on throughout the sport. Other common sizes are seven feet by three and a half feet and eight feet by four feet.

A regulation size pool table is 4 1/2 foot by 9 foot. The basic rule is that the length of the table has to be twice the width. This is what is required for competition playing.
