A "pour over" coffee maker is one that pours boiling or near-boiling water over ground coffee beans; the water typically passes through a filter and is collected in a container beneath the beans. "Pour over" coffee makers are the most common coffee makers.

Hot water is poured over grinds that are in a filter if done manually. The automatic machines allow you to pour the water directly into the machine to be dispensed.
