A network operating system is a system that allows you to share data and programs with other computers. For example, you can make a spreadsheet available that you have created to be accessed by other people in your network. Also a program that you all need to use it can be made available in this type of network.

With a network operating system (NOS) it is possible to set the user rights of different ressources as the main task. Famous NOSs are Novell or Windows NT for example.
