When talking about a computer mouse, mechanical mouse is used to describe a mouse that contains a ball and many other moving parts as oppose to more modern laser mouse. They are more prone to failing due to dirt building up in the moving parts.

The mouse that contains a metal or rubber ball on its under side. Sensors inside the mouse detect the motion and move the on-screen mouse pointer in some direction.
