A Koopa Troopa is an enemy in the video game Mario Brothers. These are the basic infantry enemies that you encounter in the original NES and later SNES,N64, and next generation Mario games. The Koopa Troopa is a turtle that is genetically modified to take specific orders from Bowser. There are variations of the enemy based on shell color.

Koopa Troopa is a turtle like bad guy in Nintendo's Mario brothers line of video games. Their shells become weapon style projectiles, and in the original Mario Brothers game it could be stopped by hitting the ground to stun it, then dealing a coup de grace. Koopa Troopas were successfully merchandised as stuffed toys, keychains, etc by Nintendo.

In the movie "The Mario Bros," they were the hulking monoliths with the shrunken lizard heads, with many sharp teeth, usually with a grin on their faces. They were one of the more memorable parts of the otherwise unfortunately horrible movie. It's a good watch, though.
