In general terms wine and chocolate pair very poorly. The one notable exception are Port wines. Darker chocolates pair best with the pinnacle of Port wine styles - Vintage Port. The better the quality of the chocolate, the better it will pair with the Port. Twany, or younger Port, will go well with milk chocolate.

The shiraz wine varietal can sometimes have an earthy chocolate tone to it, but more often within the bouquet than the taste itself. It may be difficult to find one but, however lengthy, the process will be enjoyable.

There's an interesting wine called "The Chocolate Block", which is supposedly very unique, and a blend of many different wines that create flavors of chocolate, liquorice, and mint.

There is no wine that has a chocolate flavor itself. However, there are many red wines whose flavors are enhanced when consumed with chocolate. Wines to enjoy with chocolate include Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Another favorite to have with chocolate is a full-bodied Port style wine. This is a fortified wine that has higher alcohol than table wine.
