Believe it or not, vegetables can be an excellent iron source. Dark leafy greens like kale and spinach are extremely high in iron, as are many different kinds of beans.

There are many sources of iron both from red meat and white. Non-meat foods can also be very rich is iron. So can some vegetables. Eggs, tuna, lentils, beans and soy are great sources of iron. It is better to eat meat with leafy vegetables because the body can absorb the iron better that way.

Dietary iron is found in a variety foods from both animals and plants, so you don't necessarily have to eat liver! Red meat and poultry contain iron, and so does seafood. Legumes like lentils and black beans are good sources. Raisins and other dried fruits contain iron. Spinach and potatoes also provide iron.
