It really depends on your personal preference. You might want to try Audacity. It is free and can do most music processing tasks. Not only that it can mix several music tracks, it can also add effects such as phaser, reverb, fades, and pitch shift to name a few to your music.

Personally, I would use Audacity to mix music. It has a really simple and Intuitive UI, has a lot of features that higher, paid programs have (mp3 encoding, effects,) and runs on only a little bit of memory. It's very user friendly, and it only take a little bit of time to figure out. Good luck!

My favorite software for playing around with audio tracks is "Audacity." It's a free program that you can download online. I've used to to record my own CD, and also to create mash-ups of my favorite songs. It's quite intuitive, and I taught myself how to use it without any professional help.

For a beginner, i would suggest getting a free program off of the internet such as Audacity, Loop Labs, or Virtual DJ. They tend to be simple and easy to use.
