Lovebirds need a well balanced diet. When feeding commerical seed mixes, offer less and Lovebird will eat better. Never feed your bird avocado as it is toxic to birds. Keep trying to feed fruits and vegetables. Give fresh water every day and always clean dish and tubing. Also buy pellets so all nutritional needs will be met.

A seed mix for lovebirds (or a mix for small parrots) should be available in almost any pet store. You can supplement this with fresh vegetables, greens, some fruits (apples, bananas, pears, grapes etc. ), and millet spray. Avoid fruit pits, avocados, chocolate and caffeine - these are toxic to birds.

You should check with your local pet store to buy special seed just for lovebirds. Also all birds need to have a little bit of grit (sand) in their birdfood to help with digestion. This doesn't harm them, but helps them to grind their food in their beaks and stomachs.
