I would get a shampoo that contains tea tree oil and shampoo him with it several times. Tea tree oil has many healing qualities.

Before trying home remedies I strongly suggest consulting with your local vet. Home remedies can be dangerous if done wrong. Demodex is usually taken care of with simple veterinary medication.

Deomodex can be made by combining 1 tbsp. of Borax to 1 cup of 1 percent hydrogen peroxide solution. If your peroxide is a 3 percent solution, dilute it with water at the ratio of 1 part peroxide and 2 parts water before adding the Borax. Dab onto your dog's coat with a sponge and do not rinse out.

It may go away on its own, you can also boil a cup of water with a slice of lemon and let sit overnight before applying. Making grain free food without wheat or yeast will also help, as the mites feed on yeast in the body.
