Goats make good companions for horses, but the animals have different fencing needs. The safest horse fence is a board fence, rather than wire, which is best for goats. The best for both would be a wire fence on posts with a wooden or vinyl board top rail. Combine this with electrified wire at the appropriate height for each animal.

When it comes to horses do NOT use Barbed Wire or any kind of wire that bends but won't break, such as high tensile wire. You can use plain wire or several rows of poly tape. It's best to electrify the fence as goats like to get out.

Good fence for goats & horses: Goats make great companions for horses. However, goats are escape artist so a single strand of electric wire probably won't be sufficient. Good fence could have to be chest height to a horse and a goat would be able to walk right under it.
