Ceiling height for a master bedroom depends upon your height, the height of any furniture you want to have in it and personal preference. 9 to 10 feet is more then adequate for most needs, however if you are thinking about putting in a bed with a very tall frame, or frequently stand on the bed go higher.

A standard ceiling height for a master bedroom would be 8 feet, however many new homes today are having higher ceiling heights to add drama to the room and some are going up to as high as 10 feet. If you want a dramatic ceiling and a ceiling tray you could will want to have a higher ceiling.

I think vaulted ceilings are best. I would assume 12 feet at the peak would be great. High ceilings also make a room look larger. It gives a nice feeling to the room when the ceilings are high. I suppose 10 feet would also be nice but I say the higher the better.

Personally, I think 12 feet is a good height for a bedroom because you don't want it to look small, busy or crowded. It will visually make the room look bigger but will not be as much as vaulted ceilings and cost alot more to heat in the winter or cool in the summer.
