Consider taking her to see a special event, like a concert, play, puppet show or trip to the circus. She might also enjoy a trip to the salon for a "fancy" grown up haircut, if her parents will allow it. Little girls love when they're treated like big girls, so appeal to that and she'll love your gift.

It all depends on the personality and the likes of you six year old niece. However some great gift ideas would be: Barbie, Easy Bake Oven, A Make Up (kids), Dress Up Kit, Bratz Doll, Cute Accessory, Art Kit, Jewlery Kit, if none of those seem like her then buy her a giftcard and take her shopping.

6 year old girls are girly, they like to play with dolls and help out at home so maybe a dollhouse were she rearrange furniture and all that.

You can get her some books. Maybe you can track down some of your favorite childhood books. I'm sure she's learning to read now, so that would probably be a big hit.
