Freeganism is essentially an anti-consumerism lifestyle. Freegans take their name from vegans, and are philosophically inspired by the veganism movement. While vegans avoid consuming any animal products, freegans avoid consuming mass produced goods and services, prefering instead to grow their own food and manufacture their own products. They also salvage discarded goods and share with others in the freegan community.
