A factor tree is a diagram that shows all the prime factors of a given number. An example: The prime factors of 24 are 2 and 3.

A factor tree is a technique used to find the prime factorization of a number. We start with a number at the top, and rewrite it as the product of two numbers underneath. We continue doing this for each new number, until we can't break the numbers down any further.
