"Clutch" refers to the eggs a bird lays over a short period in order to hatch them. It can also refer to the baby birds hatched from those eggs.

A clutch is a nest of eggs. Different birds may have clutches of different sizes, but you will find that bird owners will often refer to a bird's clutch whenever they are excited about having chicks from their current breeding stock. Congratulate your friend and expect to hear about chicks soon.
