Toy breeds as pups can be more delicate than larger breeds adn so are often not suited for homes with small children. The smaller dogs can be more difficult to housebreak. They usually stay 'puppyish' longer than some larger breeds do remaining more playful, active and mischieveous.

Toy breed dogs are small dogs that tend to do well in smaller environments such as apartments. There are a wide variety of dog breeds that are characterized as "toy breed dogs" including pugs and toy poodles. Each breed is unique and should be researched independently as some toy breeds are much more active than others.

The toy dog group is different from any other groups of dogs because most toy dogs are bred to simply be lap dogs. They may not be highly energetic but they will want all of your love that you can give and never want to be ignored.

Toy Dogs are not the greatest with small children because they don't have a lot of patience. They are more prone to breathing problems and injuries because of their small size. They need small breed food.
