If you are a US citizen and marry a Canadian, the kids will have dual citizenship. You will also likely start saying "aboot" instead of "about."

No, you do not automatically become a Canadian citizen if you marry a Canadian. You are still required to go through all of the requirements to become a Canadian citizen. There have been many cases in which someone has been married to a Canadian, only to be deported for not meeting the requirements.

You can apply for citizenship after living in Canada for three years with your partner. You will need to be able to prove your financial stability and you will not be elligible to vote or claim welfare until you are granted citizenship.
