You can have abdominal pain and nausea or develop gall stones after eating food with high fat content because the fat is not being processed to be absorbed by the lower intestine and is just being stored in the gall bladder.

Nothing. If it is causing problems they will remove it. Otherwise, everything wil be fine. You don't need it to be healthy.

If your gall bladder quits working it can become infected with gangrene. Luckily you can live very well without your gall bladder. Chronic gall stones can make the gall bladder not function. Sometimes you don't know that your gall bladder isn't working until there's pain and stones are found in the gall bladder.

If you have a non-functioning gallbladder its most likely she'll need to have surgery to get the gallbladder removed. If you don't want surgery you can change your diet. A diet that consisted low fat, and avoiding fried foods completely. But if you have gallbladder stones you should have surgery. I wish the best for your aunt!

Most likely she will need to have surgery to remove the gallbladder. This typically does not cause any problems with digestion or activity once it has healed. The surgery is usually laparoscopic and does not require invasive procedures.

When a gallbladder is ruled non-functioning, your best be is to have it removed or change your diet. A low fat diet, avoiding fried foods entirely - is often recommended. If gallbladder stones are present, surgery should be your primary option.

The gallbladder is attached to the liver and stores bile. This helps to digest fats when released in the small intestine. A non-functioning gallbladder causes a range of digestive problems along with a persistent and radiating pain.
