An informal interview has more conversational flow, with the interviewee able to ask more questions of the interviewer. However, it is still an interview, not a casual chat. If you are more at ease, you are more likely to say something contradictory if your resume was embellished.

Informal is, my opinion, a way to but the interviewee at ease. That's how an employer wants you! When you are relaxed you "give-up" more information. I do not believe there is really such a thing as an "informal" interview. Good Luck!

At mine, it was very relaxed. I gave him a little of my background. We joked around some and talked a little football. I also asked some minor work-related question, such as job duties, environment, sales, etc, to which he reponded naturally and quite eloquently. But there was no tension, just 2 people talking. It was great!

An informal interview, also called a screening interview, is done to get a general idea of the applicants' background. Some basic questions concerning experience will be asked.
