Historically, roses have always been associated with Valentine's Day, much like the pointsettia is linked to Christmas. The rose will probably always hold that distinction. However, in recent times, women have begun to expect more (in terms of creativity and thoughtfulness) from their men, and are really starting to value more unique bouquets containing tulips, daisies, or sunflowers.
