Our English Tudor-style home has a large foyer, vaulted ceiling, dark brick walls, ceramic flooring we want to replace. Dark wood floors elsewhere.

A light to medium shade of marble or granite would be a perfect fit. Natural stone flooring is limitless in choices of shades and designs. Although more expensive, and it not a great do it yourself project, natural stone is perfect for high traffic areas.

Well the best type of flooring for any type of area is marble. Go with marble or granite and pick neutral colors. Don't pick anything dark just stay in between.

I would either choose a light to medium colored wood flooring or a light colored natural stone flooring to coordinate with your dark brick walls. You want something light colored so the room does not become to dark and dreary looking. If using stone, then an irregular shaped stone would be more likely to coordinate with the rectangular bricks.
